Wall Street closed: Choppy closing Friday in US stocks

FXStreet (Guatemala) - U.S. stocks did better at the end of the week, more so in the NASDAQ closing at the highs of 4333 bid while the S&P and Dow were a slow drift higher.

The S&P 500 closed at 2060 with a high of 2065 and with a low of 2048. The Dow traded at a high of 17,767 and a low of 17,621 and closed 17,716. The main event came with Fed Chair Janet Yellen's remarks at the end of the day while we are leading up to first quarter earnings, proving a choppy end of week as investors are cautious of a negative quarter with corporate earnings weighed on by a strong dollar. Meanwhile, those expecting to get an idea of when the first rate hike is coming were let down as Yellen was unable to offer a date and much will depend on data and they are in no rush to raise rates.

USD/JPY sold at 119.25; back to 119.00

After bouncing off 118.90, the USD/JPY recovered ground to trade as high as 119.25; however, the pair found selling interest at this level and it was launched back to 119.00.
